our bricks & mortar store is located in the heart of north providence and was opened with a few simple things in mind...recycle, save money & give back...we take current clean clothing daily...sell it at great prices & donate what's left over after the consignment period...from Marc Jacobs to H&M, stop by to drop off, scope out new digs & find a little inspiration....

i’m pretty sure i feel it…if i close my eyes, and stay under the blankets…i feel it coming.  last night i looked outside at almost 6pm and it was still kinda, sorta light out…it’s coming, i just know it is…

so it’s the perfect  time to go over our basic consignment “rules”…there will be an influx of new consignors & customers and we want to ensure that we give you the best experience EVER…whether you’re dropping off for the first time, the fifth time, a first time shopper  or one of our weekly regulars….

we take clothing on consignment by APPOINTMENT ONLY…period…thank you…

we don’t take “everything”…we do not sell prom gowns, wedding dresses, suits or even dress pants…for a detailed list please click around above and you’ll find the rules and lists of what we need/take & want…

now that you’ve called for an appointment and dug through your spring things please note that they do not HAVE to come in on hangers…we use our own…however, if you do bring them in on hangers you will NOT get those hangers back…folded neatly in shopping bags or a laundry basket is fine….

this…is NOT fine…please do NOT bring your items in trash bags…if you treat your things like garbage chances are we will too….we cannot dig through garbage bags….i cannot stress this enough….

we only take clothing that is 2 years old or newer…no shoulder pads, no city/state/college logo t’s or sweatshirts, no rips, stains, tears…we know they get overlooked, so we will quickly go through your items while you’re there dropping off…we will only take what we can, we think we can sell, or need at that time…if we find defects in any article of clothing AFTER you leave that item will be donated…

we have a 60 day consignment period.  at the end of that 60 days you have 7 days to reclaim any of your items that did not sell…you must call first to come grab them…we will have them together for you…

our business is growing super fast and we want to keep up with what our customers want…if we do not keep some of your items, it’s not personal…with the small space we occupy EACH item takes up precious real estate…we only keep what we honestly think we can sell…it just is what it is…

we are VERY excited for spring…hope you are too…give us a call and book your appointment to drop of or just pop in and say HELLO…

and we are super excited to get started!  ok…in reality we are super excited for SPRING to get here, but in the meantime we will focus on the start of 2014…which, if you live in New England has been nothing short of FREEZING…

not much is changing at blackbirds for 2014…our winter hours remain the same…Tues, Wed, Friday 11-6pm, Thursday 11-7pm (yes we have a late night, go visit Cheryl…) and Saturday 11-5pm…these hours will remain the same until about April or May…

intake…we are taking VERY LITTLE winter still…no more coats, no more boots…so if you have an upcoming appointment please refrain from bringing those items in….we are trying to move what we have in the shop to make room for..you got it, SPRING…(do you see a pattern here? cold weather girl…i am…NOT)….we are still taking sweaters, jackets, shoes in GREAT condition…handbags, accessories…jeans, long sleeve tops, short sleeve layering pieces….

for 2014 we are upping our game & making sure that we are WHERE YOU WANT TO SHOP…our items are in the BEST condition, in current style…no rips, stains, pilling, shoulder pads, tears, missing buttons, broken zippers….shoulder pads….it’s very important to us that you visit our shop before making an appointment…this gives us both a better idea if your items are a good fit for blackbirds or not…there are a LOT of shops around, we are all VERY different…if my shop doesn’t work for you items, somewhere else may….

all that being said…naturally i have a few resolutions of the personal kind…be better to myself, get my nails done every now & again…don’t let my hair grow to hippy length before desperately begging for an appointment…crossfit daily, eat less candy…give up high heels for good, be ok with wearing athletic gear daily, own it, ROCK it…read, knit, run…repeat….

is it ok to want MORE???

October 22, 2013
